ATA Recruitment in Leicester has been supporting Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People for the last 4 years. Fundraising events in 2018 included a charity quiz and auction night and a 212ft abseil down Derby Cathedral.
Located in Loughborough, Rainbows is the only facility of its kind in the East Midlands. The charity provides specialist respite, palliative and end of life care to children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions and support to their families.
The hospice and their outreach work support 400 children in the East Midlands. Receiving only 10% of their funding from The Government, they rely heavily on donations from the public to continue their work.
Having already donated over £7,000, the determined ATA Leicester office made a further £2,500 donation following several successful fundraising events last year. Earlier this week, members of the team were invited to take a tour of Rainbows to see first-hand what their donations and others mean to the charity.
During the visit, the team were shown some of the amazing facilities available for the children. The hospice has colourful playrooms, music rooms and quiet spaces that are fully adapted to suit any possible limitations.
As well as caring for children, Rainbows works with young adults up to the age of 30. During their stay, the over 18s are given respite from their daily routine and they can instead enjoy late-nights with pizzas and PlayStation.
Despite a large team of skilled doctors and carers, Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young people provide an environment that is a world away from a hospital, allowing their residents to enjoy a sense of normality. Families also benefit from the services provided – as well as a break from caring they are given complimentary massages and aromatherapy as well as continuous support from the hospice.
It’s estimated that it costs £5.7m to run the hospice each year and only a small fraction of that cost will be funded by The Government. ATA Leicester is proud to be supporting Rainbows for another year and have kicked off 2019 with a cheque for £2,541 from recent fundraising efforts.
Chris Addison, Branch Director at ATA Leicester said, “We are incredibly proud to be able to continuously support Rainbows Children’s Hospice. It’s a fantastic cause and they are always so grateful for any donation, it’s amazing to be invited to the centre to see first-hand the positive impact fundraising has. We are looking forward to another year of supporting Rainbows, and are hoping for the biggest year of donations yet!”
