Controls Engineer

£39,000 to £44,000 (Including Shift Allowance) Plus Benefits

The Company

My client is a world class manufacturer with a reputation for design, innovation, technology and development of world and class leading vehicles.

Due to plans to grow the Manufacturing Engineering team, they have an excellent opportunity for a Controls Engineer to support the maintenance team with any day to day production issues. You will be part of a cross-functional team which will include management of other small projects.

The Role

The responsibility of the Controls Engineer will be to:

  1. Provide technical support to the maintenance / engineering teams when there is a major fault on the line. This will consist of fault identification, diagnostics and resolution.

  2. Capital equipment and project management to upgrade obsolete equipment from manual to automated.

  3. Process Improvements on the line from assessment to implementation from identification and procurement of new equipment to installation and commissioning

Additional responsibilities will include:

  • Interrogation and modification of control systems (Siemens S7 / TIA Portal / PLC’s)

  • Project management of equipment suppliers including Contractor Controls

  • New Product Introduction

  • PFMEA’s and Control Plans

The Candidate

The ideal Controls Engineer will be educated in an electrical engineering discipline. You will be a time-served Electrical Engineer who has developed their career within a medium to high-volume OEM or Tier 1 automated manufacturing environment.

Key areas of experience will also include:

  • Experience of Controls and Control systems

  • Experience of PLC’s (such as Siemens, Mitsubishi or Allen Bradley)

  • Engines or associated technologies
