Role – Senior Controls Engineer
Location – Nottinghamshire
Salary – £40,000 – £50,000 + Pension + Flexible Working Hours + 25 days holiday
My client is a global provider of bespoke equipment for the food and drink industry with a turnover of $4 Billion. The company employ 100,000 globally and have an industrial systems business within their group with a turnover of $100 million. This area of the business provides bespoke equipment that processes FMCG products in pre-production processes including specialist conveyors, weighing machines, dosing equipment and mechanical handling equipment.
Their Nottinghamshire office has an engineering team of 30 that take projects from quotation, through design and to site installation and commissioning. They are now looking to recruit a Senior Controls Engineer who will be responsible for developing PLC/SCADA & HMI programmes for various sized systems up to 1000 input/outputs.

The role of Senior Controls Engineer will involve:
Working on controls & automation projects within the process engineering market.
The solutions include machinery such as liquid & powder scales, silos, diverters and pneumatic conveyor systems.
You will be the technical leader for 2 SCADA engineers and will initially liaise with the client directly to define the control philosophy and what systems will be needed for their plant.
Putting together the controls specifications.
- PLC Programming using Siemens TIA Portal and Rockwell Studio/RS Logix 5000 using structured text languages.
- HMI Programming using WinCC, building up the screens for the systems.
- Customer support – defining what SCADA, PLC, HMI system the client needs for new plants and upgrades to existing plants.
- Projects can be 100 to 1000 I/O in a system.
- The role will be around 80% programming.
To be successful as a Senior Controls Engineer you will need:
Previous PLC Programming experience using structured test.
Flexible to travel when required, this will only be a couple of times a year but could be overseas.

Predominantly office-based role, there is a separate team that carry out the commissioning on site.
