Mechanical Design Engineer (Solidworks) – SPM, Machinery, Conveyors, Structural Steelwork

Based in Kettering (Office based) – 3 Month Contract – High chance of contract extensions

£35 - £37.50 per hour, Ltd Company, Outside IR35

This well-established privately owned machinery manufacture is at the forefront of technology within the UK process industry. Over the last 12 months this company has continued to experience excellent growth and has won several projects which has resulted in the need to expand their flexible contract resource. The design team’s workload has increased and there is a real need to maintain the quality of service to its clients. As a result, this company needs to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer immediately. The role of a Mechanical Design Engineer will involve:

  • Working on a specific process engineering project.
  • Visiting customer sites and surveying / measuring of the area where the machinery is required to go.
  • Design of fabricated products, machinery structural steelwork
  • 3D modelling of machinery and plant layout using Solidworks– all the machinery designs have been standardised, bespoke parts of the designs would be access platforms, walkways, steel supports.
  • Adhere to Machinery Directives (health & safety requirements for machinery in the EU)
  • Create BOMs and Costings
  • Liaising with the internal project team
  • Producing general arrangement drawings

The Mechanical Design Engineer will need to have the following experience:

  • Strong design experience
  • Previous design of machinery or conveyors
  • Experience in designing structural steelwork
  • Solidworks experience
  • Capable of producing 3D designs of sections, 3D plant layouts, 2D manufacturing drawings
  • Strong attention to detail
